Update on measles outbreak declared on Merseyside

A measles outbreak has been declared on Merseyside. There are 13 confirmed and 16 suspected cases ranging in age from nine months to adults aged in their 20s. Six people, four children and two adults, required treatment in hospital. This compares to just one confirmed case on Merseyside in the first six weeks of 2011 and one in the corresponding period of 2010.

Update on Legionnaires’ Cluster Associated with a Hotel in Spain

10 February 2012, 1400hrs. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has this week been alerted by the Spanish public health authorities about a further case of Legionnaires’ Disease in a UK resident who stayed at the Diamante Beach Hotel in Calpe, Costa Blanca, as well as two French cases. This brings the total number of UK residents associated with this cluster to 12, with three deaths.

consultation_6 All consultations at our Practice are by appointment only. To make an appointment to see a Doctor or Nurse, please contact the Surgery by telephone or in person during opening hours, (see below for times). The Receptionist will offer you the earliest possible appointment.

If you need an urgent appointment, please let the Receptionist know when first contacting them and give full details of your problem. This allows us to prioritise urgent problems or to suggest other alternatives if more appropriate.You are free to request a routine appointment with the clinician of your choice.

Consultation is also available for 16 years or over on request if the patient has not had a consultation or attended clinic within 3 years. Consultation is available to patients aged 75 or over on request if they have not had a consultation within the last year.

Patients have the responsibility of keeping appointments and informing the surgery of any cancellations within one working day.

Home Visits

Doctor's bag If possible please try to telephone reception before 10:30am if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.

There is ample free car parking on the opposite side of Henley Road to the Practice. Access is in Roseberry Avenue, opposite the ALDI Supermarket.
